Despite the fact that at the beginning of 2021 there was a strong rebound in the global economy due to the economic crisis caused by the Coronavirus, the year 2022 did not start with the best socioeconomic events and, unfortunately, we are experiencing a context of slowdown at a global level which has as its main characteristics the highest inflation in the last 40 years together with the lowest average growth of the world’s economies in the last 20 years. Peru, as a member of the emerging economies and located in a market of developing countries, once again faces a possible crisis scenario such as the one that occurred in 2008. In this way, the interview with Víctor Manuel Morales Saavedra aims to mention the possible effects that this economic slowdown will have on the national economy and the strategies that the Peruvian government should follow to face this global slowdown. Likewise, the exploration of this current situation will allow the reader to know how complicated this Peruvian situation is at a general level in terms of fiscal and institutional policy at the moment.
