The objective of this article was to describe the current challenges facing industrialization in Peru and the opportunities that exist to overcome them. The research focused mainly on the literature related to the manufacturing sector of the economy and the new paradigms of innovation in the international market, and the Korean case is also analyzed with respect to the possibilities that Peru has to industrialize. In section 2, the role of the manufacturing sector in innovation is developed; in section 3, the concept of the machine tool and the new paradigm of innovation in the world are analyzed; in section 4, the situation of innovation in Peru is analyzed; and in section 5, the opportunities for industrialization that Peru may have with a view to the international market are explored. It was concluded that Peru faces the challenge of adapting to these inevitable changes in the production model in manufacturing, which is Industry 4.0. Likewise, there is a comparative advantage not only in tourism, but also in cultural goods, as there is great potential in this niche. Therefore, Peru may have a comparative advantage for developing a sustainable production model as a contribution to a globalized world.
